PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

 Get creative, get trendy and get going with the Mane Strokes Academy and Advanced Training program!  Whether it’s cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, natural hair or nails, look no further for the the training you want and need.  The cosmetology school and full-service salon is located at 2227 Drake Ave. Suite 10A, in beautiful south Huntsville Alabama!

In our cosmetology program professional instructors will teach you the basics of: hair cutting and styling, chemical procedures, beauty and wellness, salon business and professionalism! Also learning the latest hottest trends in the form of: shampooing, cutting, coloring and styling, plus all other industry staples, including how to provide excellent customer service.

As a student in the barber program you’ll learn the specialties of men’s haircutting, chemical services and style, as well as facial shaving, professionalism safety and infection control.

Occupational certificates, licensures and advanced training in your specific program are available in each discipline. Whether you’re a recent high school graduate or looking to train for a new career, these are the programs that’ll get you up and running!

The nail tech and esthetics programs are designed to give you a stackable credential to broaden your skills. In addition to these programs, a cosmetology instructor program is available as well.

1. Complete New Student Enrollment Form

These are available at the link below, at the MSA campus office of admissions or at in-district high school counselors’ offices. Submit other documentation or fees as required for special programs at the campus administration office. manestrokesacademyhuntsville@gmail.com

development, educational planning, class scheduling and more.

Cosmetology Program Goals

-Demonstrate an understanding of the art of haircutting, hair design, nails and/or skin.

-Demonstrate an understanding of the art of men’s haircutting, shaving, & hair design.

-Demonstrate an understanding of the art of nail care, nail health, manicures, and pedicures

-Demonstrate an understanding of the practical sequence of chemical application.

-Demonstrate appropriate communication skill through guest service and consultation.

-Analyze client needs and perform appropriate techniques.

-Demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully pass the state board exam. 

COSMETOLOGY | ADVANCED COSMETOLOGY | 10,000-12,000

Occupational Certificate | 1500 hours | 3 additional classes

The program is designed to prepare you to work as a cosmetologist. Typical graduates will work as hair dressers in chain or independent salons or open their own. The curriculum emphasizes practical, hands-on experience with the latest styles, trends and techniques, and prepares you to take the Alabama Cosmetologist licensure exam. Students will be expected to attend class five days a week for up to eight hours a day.

BARBER | ADVANCED BARBER | 10,000-12,000

Occupational Certificate | 1000 hours | 3 additional classes 

The Barber program is designed to prepare you for a career as a barber. Typical graduates will work as barbers in chain & independent shops or open their own. The curriculum. emphasizes practical, hands-on experience with the latest styles, trends and techniques. The program prepares you to take the Alabama Barber licensure exam.

ESTHETICS | ADVANCED ESTHETICS | 10,000-12,000

Occupational Certificate | 1000 hours | 3 additional classes 

The Esthetics program meets the standards of the Alabama esthetics licensures exam. This program is designed to prepare individuals to perform the skills of an esthetician. The curriculum includes professional ethics, personal hygiene, sterilization and sanitation, skin analysis, scientific concepts in skin care and special esthetics procedures. Students will learn hands-on skills in therapeutic massage, skin health and nutrition, mask therapy, facial treatments, professional equipment usage, hair removal processes and professional makeup techniques.

NAIL TECHNOLOGY | ADVANCED NAIL TECHNOLOGY | 8,000-9,000

Occupational Certificate | 750 Hours | 3 additional classes

This program is designed to prepare students for a career as a licensed nail Technician and take advantage of the career opportunities that exist in the field of manicurists & pedicurists. Learning will occur in the classroom and in a clinic setting. Upon successful completion, students will have gained the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Alabama licensure exam.

NATURAL HAIRCARE | ADVANCED NATURAL HAIRCARE | 5,000-6,000

Occupational Certificate | 210 Hours | 3 additional classes

This program is designed to prepare the student for a career as a licensed Natural Haircare Specialist. Career opportunities are far from limitations, scalp specialist, loc technician, braider natural hair stylist and many more with a holistic and wellness approach. Learning will occur in the classroom and a clinical setting. Upon successful completion, students will have gained the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Alabama licensure exam.

REFRESHER PROGRAM | ADVANCED REFRESHER PROGRAM | 4,000-5,000

Occupational Certificate | 375 Hours | 3 additional classes

Students enrolled in the refresher course program will receive lecture and training from knowledgeable and skilled licensed instructors that have professional experience in cosmetology, barbering  and esthetics curriculum. This program will prep you for the Alabama board of cosmetology and barbering written and practical exam, upon completion.

COSMETOLOGY/BARBER INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM | 10,000 | 5,000

Occupational Certificate | 1500 Hours | 650 Hours 

This program is designed to prepare individuals for positions in teaching cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, natural hair and nail technology.  Learning will occur in the classroom and in a clinic setting and will utilize and learn classroom management and lesson planning and get understanding of teaching all learning types. Upon successful completion, students will have gained the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Alabama licensure exam.
